About Us

Our story starts as most do, with a couple of kids, trying to figure out what they want to do when they grow up. Nic Shellhammer, an Oceanside-Native, Graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in horticulture, and dove head first into the field working his way from the trenches up to a manager of two divisions at one of the most prestigious Landscape companies in San Diego county. Nic has an excellent eye for detail, and an extensive knowledge of plant material which he's refined over the years to be "bullet-proof" in San Diego's many different climates.

 

Robby Ewing has grown up in the industry his whole life. His dad owned an award winning wholesale nursery, and his Uncle owned an industry-leading Landscape company which was stationed out of the nursery. After graduating from Oregon State University with a degree in General Business, Robby had a crash-course in hard work while working on Mackinac island, where no motorized vehicles are allowed. Missing the unbeatable weather here, he moved back to San Diego to work at Armstrong Garden Centers where he worked up to Assistant Manager of the Rancho Penasquitos location, and earned his California Certified Nursery Professional designation or CCNP. From there he moved back to landscaping, where he met Nic.

After working together for several years, it was very clear something bigger was on the horizon. The two decided to form Landtrends Inc. in 2022 and be leaders in quality, customer service, and communication.
